You may have already seen our blog on Walks across the West Midlands, which is full of great ideas to get you out and about; however, sometimes the weather has other ideas! While a woodland walk might be nice to get some fresh air on a crisp winter’s day, it’s not the best idea in a torrential downpour! You may have also read our What’s on this Month blog, but to keep boredom at bay without breaking the bank; we’ve found some fun free days out for rainy days in and around Birmingham.

With some great venues offering free entry, plenty of shopping centres to explore and some charming family friendly restaurants and cafes; hopefully you will find something for the whole family to enjoy,  and you can relax knowing that everyone’s having a great time without spending to much!

Visit a Museum

Local museums are a great idea for a rainy day! Keep dry, stave off boredom and learn some interesting facts – what more could you ask for? Suitable for all ages its a good way of spending some quality time together for families, couple and friends alike.

Shopping Centres and Shopping Villages

Ok so a shopping centre might not be your first thought when planning a day out (especially if you have children) but if you’re desperate to get out of the house on a rainy day they are a sure way of keeping you occupied for a few hours. Shopping centres often have events going on too so check their websites for events and what’s on pages.

Much more than just a garden centre with children’s events over the holidays, photography competitions and information events.
