Winter is coming… and lucky for you we have the perfect range of winter activities for you this December! We constantly update this blog with the latest events so find out here what’s on this month in West Midlands this December.

We have compiled a list of family-friendly activities and those days where you just need a break, whether it be eating or drinking, we’ve got just the things to do this November, perfect for those based in Birmingham, Solihull, Kings Heath, Moseley and surrounding areas!

Oh and let’s not forget the launch of the Christmas markets and Christmas events across West Midlands and Christmas Light Switch Ons!

Beauty and The Beast Pantomime, Sutton Coldfield – 11th – 31st December 2018 

Featuring a cast of incredibly talented actors, singers and musicians, Beauty and the Beast brings a great, professional pantomime to Sutton Coldfield. It’s a wonderful story with wonderful music, wonderful design, wonderful dancing…and some truly terrible jokes! This has to be a show you can’t miss!

Winter Film Festival, Brindley Place  – 13th -16th December 2018

The Brindleyplace Film Festival is returning to Birmingham with a very special festive twist! Watch your favourite Christmas films on the big screen.

National Burger Day Festival – 15th December 2018

The festival promises to be a taste sensation; full of extra toppings; epic sliders; and a number of delicious sides. Alongside a number of themed bars, lots of Beers, tunes dropped by some of Brum’s top DJ’s. The party also honors five – or more – of the biggest Street-Food Traders, Deserts Stalls and one or two alternative traders, for those who prefer a burger of the meatless variety.

The Chocolate Festival Birmingham – 16th December 2018

The sweetest festival around! Sample a deliciously dynamic range of chocolate, speak with suppliers, purchase tasty treats for yourself and others, drop into a demo or talk from industry experts and enjoy a chocolate cocktail or two.

Rum and Reggae, Coventry – 21st December 2018

We’re bringing you only the best Caribbean street food, specialty Rum and cocktails, and performances from Phase One Steel Orchestra and multiple DJ sets.

Tacos and Tequila Street Party – 22nd December 2018 

Celebrating National Tequila Day, we’re planning a big Street Food feast with some of best Tequila brands. Tequila competitions, taco battles and pinata championship! Think cocktails, shots, mixers and ice paired with some delicious street food.

Ginuary Tasting, Loki Wine, Birmingham – 5th January 2019

Once again they’re bring back their ever popular Ginuary Gin tastings for the 4th year running their resident Gin raconteur Carl Hawkins will be showing you the best Gin’s to start the year off with, and he will try to convince you that Gin is the ultimate health drink.

Family Saturdays, Ikon Gallery, Birmingham – 5th January 2019

Join them for practical and hands-on activities inspired by the current exhibitions. Spend some creative time making and experimenting as a family. Children must be accompanied by an adult at all times. Ikon’s Learning Programme is supported by CASS ART

Saturday 5th January 2019, 12pm – 4pm

Dog Grooming Seminars – 6th and 7th January 2019

This seminar is all about salon styles with an emphasis on cross breeds and how scissoring, using a comb attachment and clipper blades affect the differing coats of these breed types. Alison will talk about prep and show you how to achieve fabulous grooms in a time efficient way. Unless that is you all want to see her do a Bichon Frise!! This will be great for all skill levels from beginner to the experienced groomer wish to hone their abilities. We have planned three dogs for the day. This will take place at Whittington Cricket Pavillion Vicarage Lane, Whittington, WS14 9LL 

There will be a workshop at the salon where you can bring your own dog and work through a groom with the guidance of Alison. This would be great for those who have a breed that they struggle with and want to improve or those of you that wish to compete at grooming competitions and learn from the insight of a Champion groomer and much respected judge. Spaces for this workshop are limited to 6. All of the facilities at the salon are available for prep beforehand should anyone need it.

Making a Murderer Part 2, The Glee Club, Birmingham – 7th January 2019

Join Laura Nirider and Steven Drizin, as they discuss coerced and false confessions, interrogation tactics, and the wrongful conviction of Brendan Dassey, whose case and post-conviction process has captivated the world in the Netflix’s smash docuseries “Making A Murderer 2”.

Vegan Monthly Kitchen, The Fellows, Dudley – 8th January 2019

Join us for our brand new monthly vegan kitchen night. 
Regular service is put on hold as we serve exclusively from our brand new vegan menu. 
A selection of starters, main courses and desserts, as well as our vegan drinks section, will be available 5pm – 9pm. Their aim is to present new dishes for you to enjoy each month and raise some funds for animal charities.

Ghost Tours, Aston Hall, Birmingham – 12th January 2019

Join them for an evening ghost tour of one of Britain’s most haunted buildings. Expect a few laughs and scares as we tell you all about the Hall’s intriguing past. We’re sure you’ll be left wondering if ghosts really do exist!
This is an exclusive opportunity to venture into the Hall at night, so prepare for a scare and be sure to book your ticket in advance. This event is extremely popular, so booking ahead is essential.

Collaboration or Appropriation? – 15th January 2019

The panel addresses the fine line between collaboration, appropriation and plagiarism across the visual arts, fashion and music. Chaired by Gilane Tawadros, Chief Executive of DACS and Vice Chair of the Stuart Hall Foundation, speakers include artist Haroon Mirza, fashion designer Osman Yousefzada and composer David Toop.

Bollywood Dance Classes with Sonia Sabri – 15th January 2019

Learn to move like some of the best actresses of Bollywood! Be inspired by the grace and beauty of Rekha, Sridevi, Madhuri, Aishwariya and Deepika! Classical Bollywood dance is inspired by the techniques and grace of Kathak with the style and energy of Bollywood, as seen in classical based songs in films. The dance routines will capture the essence of what makes these songs so popular worldwide. No prior experience is needed, only a passion for dance! 

The Greatest Showman Sing Along Brunch, Birmingham – 26th January 2019

Make January better….note this is the official sing-a-long version wherby the lyrics are displayed on the screen. Who doesn’t want free-flowing prosecco or bloody marys? The unlimited bubbly is served, while you enjoy two courses of delicious BRUNCH.
Unlimited prosecco by the glass with dining 11am – 1pm. The film starts just after 1pm.

Birmingham Yoga and Vegan Festival – 27th January 2019

Join them at Birmingham’s first Yogfiic Yoga and Vegan festival at the lovely campus of Bordesley Green Girls School. Participate in all-day Yoga & meditation sessions, enjoy yummy vegan and raw vegan food, shop for vegan products and attend talks.

Interviews with American Serial Killers, Birmingham – 28th January 2019

Join Paul, to hear more about the USA’s most terrifying killers. The evening will feature several stories of some of the US’s worst serial killers in their own words. Each one tells a different shocking story. These are the facts behind their upbringings, lives and killings. There’s a common belief that all serial killers are alike, possessing similar traits and domestic antecedents.
